Cheesesteak Review #9: Tony A’s of Conshohocken
5 out of 5 stars
For my first cheesesteak review of the week and the month of May I visited Tony A’s Pizza of Conshohocken. Like usual I ordered a regular cheesesteak with fried onions and provolone. I’m starting to get tired of this combination so I may mix it up in the future.
Bread–Outstanding. Fresh. It absorbed the juices from the meat evenly throughout.
Cheese–This was the first time I was actually impressed with the amount of cheese. It was melted throughout the whole sandwich which is also a plus.
Meat–Cooked to perfection. Cut up in too small pieces which makes it easier to go down without a lot of chewing. No burnt pieces, no fat, or gristle. It wasn’t too greasy either. It was just right.
Amount-From the picture below it may not look like a lot, but tucked in the bun there was a lot of meat and cheese. Thrown in with the fried onions it was the perfect amount of food to fill a normal person. I was even full myself from eating just the cheesesteak so that should say something.
Fried Onions-Unlike most places they chopped up the onions in too tiny pieces. They were average like many other places. However Tony A’s somehow knew exactly how much to include in my cheesesteak to please me.
Only one word can summarize this cheesesteak and experience. That word is Amazing! At this point it is my favorite cheesesteak and no other places I have reviewed so far can even come close to comparison. This was the ultimate cheesesteak. It had the perfect amount of meat, mixed with the perfect amount of cheese and fried onions. The bread was also outstanding. I don’t know how they did it, but as of now they are my favorite cheesesteak of all time. So my friends, next time you are in the Conshohocken area, stop by Tony A’s Pizza and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
