Cheesesteak Review #10: Ray’s Pizza of Lansdale
4 out of 5 stars
Bread-Really disappointing. It wasn’t stale or anything like that but it kept on getting stuck to the top of my mouth.
Cheese-There was tons of cheese melted throughout the whole sandwich. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
Meat-The meat was good. It was diced up in to smaller pieces and it was quality steak. No fat or gristle. It also wasn’t very greasy either which is a good thing.
Amount-It would be enough to fill most people. However I was extremely hungry so it didn’t fill me up. On a regular day the sandwich with fries would be enough to satisfy me.
Fried Onions-This was tough. At first I thought it was definitely too much onion, but the more I thought about it while eating it I came to the conclusion that it was just the right amount. Unlike some places, the onions at Ray’s Pizza were not overpowering and they didn’t take anything away from the meat and cheese.
Ray’s Pizza definitely has a pretty tasty cheesesteak. Really my only complaint was the bread. For whatever reason the bread just stuck to the top of my mouth. One of my coworker had the same problem, so it’s not like I just got a bad roll. Other than that it was good. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think. It wasn’t until a day later that I noticed the place is also a BYOB which is cool. There is a Wine and Spirits store a few storefronts away and there is also a bar called Blue Dog Family Tavern nearby which has a large selection of Micro Brews and Craft Beers. So if you go, grab a few drinks and head to Ray’s. You won’t be disappointed. I sure wasn’t.
